Bye-In Policy for Nationals
The $200 bye-in fee policy remains consistent with previous years and is administered by CAWF when a competitor bypasses their provincial championship.
Responsibility of the Competitor
- Competitors who do not attend their provincial qualifier and fail to notify their provincial organization in advance must pay a $200 bye-in fee, distributed as follows:
- $100 to CAWF
- $100 to the competitor’s province
Legitimate Exceptions
- The bye-in fee may be waived for valid reasons, such as medical emergencies or other extenuating circumstances, if communicated in advance to the provincial body prior to the provincial event.
Provincial Discretion
- Each province may apply its own policies and procedures regarding bye-ins.
- Example: The Saskatchewan Arm Wrestling Association (SAWA) requires:
- Written notification from the athlete before the provincial event
- Payment of the provincial entry fee ($50), even if the athlete is unable to attend
This policy is intended to uphold the authority of each provincial organization, while maintaining consistency and fairness at the national level.
